This puppet is made of pieces of garbage bags taped
together, and inflated with a hairdryer I took the
heat coils out of. He's manipulated with a wire
framework attached to the back. (Having a visible performer
outside the puppet goes back to the Bunraku tradition
of Japan.
I made him for a puppet adaptation of a grim German play, Woyzeck, which I and friends in college worked on (led by Robert Petersen.) This character's main role was to sleep with the protagonist's wife.
